Iwasaki, Nagi is a watercolor artist with a cosmopolitan view. He has exhibited his work in both Japan and the United States, in New York and Arizona, with plans to travel and display his art around the world. In 2013 especially, Iwasaki will take this next step forward, holding a solo exhibition at Ouchi Gallery in New York City.
In 2011, he made “The New Primitive Declaration” to promulgate a new emphasis on the day-to-day aspects of life. It is a focus on the quotidian, grounded in the belief that every ordinary thing holds a special secret. Uniting traditional Japanese sumi ink and a Renaissance influenced approach to watercolor, Iwasaki reflects our modern day-to-day through a relation to our past. In this way, his artwork also asserts a sense of re-creation, a rediscovering of a frame where East meets West.

The New Primitive Declaration (新素朴派宣言) 
Statement 
From a giant windmill, the ways of our modern day blow strong as wind. That wind is crying, "Don't draw! Just think! Think, and think well!". And at the same time, a strange knight rushes for the windmill. He comes from the East, with three old brushes like Renaissance swords he inherited and twelve watercolor paints for a shield. Even though we strain to make out his voice, the wind groans on too loud to hear it. Yet despite that distance, we can recognize it: he is stubborn. foolish, and on top of that,
a Japanese knight; we know this right away. He is, so to speak, a "Samurai Don Quixote". "IWASAKI, Nagi," this is his name. And now a strong wind spreads out his flag written in the Japanese sumi ink, black capital characters we take in:
"NEW PRIMITIVE," the flag declares it (新素朴派).

岩崎ナギは「世界市民」として水彩画を描いています。 ２０１１年には「新素朴派宣言」を表明しました。

「新素朴派宣言」
巨大な風車から現代の強い風が吹いてくる。

「描くな！ただ考えろ！よく考えるんだ！」と、その風は叫んでいる。同時に奇妙な騎士が風車に突進する。 ３本の古い筆をルネサンスの剣のように受け継ぎ、 １２色の水彩絵具を盾とし、 彼は東からやって来る。彼の声を聴き取ろうにも、 風の唸りが強くて聴き取れない。ただ距離がそこまで遠いにも関わらず、 我々は彼が馬鹿で頑固で、 そのうえ日本人の騎士である事がすぐ解る。 言わば「サムライ・ドン・キホーテ」だ。「岩崎ナギ」それが彼の名前だ。今ひとたび強い風が彼の旗を押し広げ、 日本の黒いインク「墨」で描かれた、 彼の「大文字」が見て取れた。「新素朴派」とその旗は伝える。
