Hi, everyone!

This is Ouchi Gallery, a contemporary art gallery located in Brooklyn, New York.  We are currently looking for performers who are willing to collaborate and warm up our opening receptions.  We usually have opening receptions every Tuesday from 7pm - 10pm, and have been asking performers to come in for an hour or so during the reception hours.

In the past, we have had jazz saxophone players, multi-instrumental musicians, free-style rappers, dancers, poets, etc. We usually have solo performances since we are very limited in space.  We are looking for performers who can come up and play something that goes with the exhibition concept.

There is no pay compensation, instead we would like to give a piece of art for you for appreciation.  This is because we believe that art should belong to people, not only to art museums or galleries.

The concept of Ouchi is “Art as a Part of Life” and the word "ouchi" (pronounced oh-woo-chi) means home in Japanese. The hope of the Ouchi Staffs is to pass on an idea of art as a treasure to cherish and consider art as a part of your home. With this in the mind, the gallery mostly exhibits work of modern Japanese artists in a cozy space without pretensions. When you come to visit Ouchi Gallery, you are greeted with a warm welcome and can relax, drink tea, find peace, and share the experience of living together in the presence of art.

Ouchi Gallery is run by Zank and Mars LLC. As previously said, the gallery mainly exhibits the work of Japanese artists, however we do exhibit the work of some artists from different countries and local artists at group exhibitions as well. Ouchi Gallery was founded in early 2008, and since then we have been exhibiting solo shows on weekly basis and group exhibition on more than a yearly basis.  Ouchi is devoted to discovering young artists from Japan and around the world, representing them, Ouchi Gallery has exhibited thousands of works in nearly all mediums and formats, from performance art and installation to sculpture, painting, illustration, calligraphy, Japanese printing, video, graphic design, collage, crafts, glasswork and more.

We are located in Fort Greene/Downtown of Brooklyn and near by subway stations are DeKalb Ave., Jay St. - Metrotech, and Hoyt St. During the exhibitions, we are open from 12pm through 6pm from Wednesday to Sunday, except Wednesdays are appointment only.
